When Katie Cried

This evening, after sending the children up to their bedroom, I followed them up to make sure they were going to sleep. “Aren’t we going to have Bible Club?” That’s what they started calling our family devotions time recently. “No Katie, not tonight.” I explained that we had already heard a Bible story at church, but that didn’t satisfy her. She began to cry . . . and she wouldn’t stop.

I have been reading through the book of Judges with our children each night. So far we have memorized the names of twelve judges (excluding Abimelech). They really enjoy saying the list together. But they are still working on Ibzan, Elon, and Abdon.

It may seem strange to you, but hearing Katie cry tonight was special. I don’t enjoy hearing anyone cry, but knowing the reason made this a little different. I hope she keeps wanting to hear the Bible being read when she is older.
