Last September, Zach Hamilton of
Westerville Bible Church had the opportunity to witness to a young Catholic man on the campus of Ohio State University. The man was then considering the priesthood. Confronting the man about his beliefs was itself a great opportunity. But at the same time, the cable company A & E was filming the conversation for part of a five part reality show series about Catholic men considering the priesthood.
I have not seen any of the series, but would be very interested to see what part of the conversation will be presented during the episode. Will the man still enter the priesthood? One of the episodes will be airing Sunday, April 23, 2006. Our family does not have cable. But if you are able to view it, let me know how it turns out.
Lori and I watched it for the first time last week. I was amazed at the “works” these men were doing to “prove” themselves worthy to serve God. One young man is attending Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, another attends John Carroll Universty in Cleveland, and the other 2 I am not sure where they attend. All I know is one other is from VA working in NE, and the other is from PA.

The plumber who came to replace our water heater asked me about that this last Friday. He claimed to be a Christian and felt that something about that program wasn’t right. That gave me the opportunity to show him how Catholics are relying on their own works to become righteous instead of trusting Christ’s righteousness.
Catholics…so close yet so far from the Truth!
