Blackwell for Governor

Ken Blackwell seems to be the best man for governor this year. But the people of Lake County didn’t think so. The News-Herald reports that Petro got more votes in Lake and Cuyahoga counties while Geauga and Ashtabula counties favored Blackwell. Ken Blackwell, a republican, will be taking on Democrat Ted Strickland in the November election.

“Blackwell and Strickland’s general election fight will pit a darling of the religious right against a former minister and prison psychologist, an opponent of big government against a favorite of organized labor. As the first black nominated to run for Ohio governor, Blackwell is expected to have some cross-over appeal with black voters often counted on to help elect Democrats. Another black Republican, former NFL football star Lynn Swann, was headed toward the same distinction in neighboring Pennsylvania.”
