The name of this blog comes from Isle de Kerguelen, a French territory in the southern Indian Ocean. After reading about its climate, location, and history, I was hooked. You may never understand why I am fascinated with the island, but you can be sure that I am not the first to dream of going there.
Matthew Parris, a columnist for Britain’s The Times had a dream to visit the island and eventually spent six months there (March-August 2000). Next to The Arch of Kerguelen, his columns have been my next favorite to read. See what you think:
P.S. Sharon agreed that she would accompany me to Kerguelen, but only if we stopped in Israel on the way. Hey, it’s a step in the right direction!
