Flooding Benevolence Fund

As mentioned in a previous article, several families in our congregation were affected by the flooding in Painseville and Mentor. As a result of the flooding, they lost their furnace, water heater, washer and dryer. Others may have to repair their foundation due to the water seeping through the block and mortar. Many of our church members have been helping the various families with clean-up. You can see that by the mounds of trash in the front yards in Painesville. But now that the clean-up is done, what help is still needed?

The first way to help is something you have already been doing—prayer. Going through this kind of difficulty is just that, very difficult. Those who know Christ are relieved that they still have their home and family. But for some, the immensity of their loss is staggering. Pray that each will focus on the Lord during this time.

Pastor Spence and I spoke this morning about the financial need of these people. How can we as a congregation help somehow with the financial losses? In all reality, our church would not be able to give enough to provide for all that has been lost. So, we have set up a Flooding Benevolence Fund to which anyone may give to help those affected by the flood.

If you would like to take part in the benevolence fund, you may send a check made out to Bible Community Church to the following address:
