It is significant that the pastor is to constantly care for his own spiritual relationship to God and then to also care for the flock. Some pastors busy themselves with the affairs of the sheep at the expense of their own spiritual walk with God. You cannot neglect your own prayer and Bible study before God and make up for it by any quantity of busywork. “You therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself?” (Rom. 2:21).
