God’s Sovereignty

I was going to park the Jaguar in front of the house, so we could move the van out. But, for some reason, I chose to park it in the driveway. Shortly thereafter, Sharon told me the neighbor girl was asking for the number to call if a branch had fallen in the street. It turned out to be a big branch … and full of black ants.

Now here’s the question. Was this just a coincidence that (a) I parked the car in the driveway, (b) none of the neighbor kids were playing under the tree, or (c) that the branch didn’t fall on our house? Some might think so. But the more I read the Bible and experience God’s goodness in my life, the more I believe that God is sovereign even in the little things.

But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep His covenant and remember His precepts to do them. The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all.

Psalm 103:17-19 NASB

“Thank you, Father, for protecting us and our property. Today is only one example of the many times you have protected us from harm. And as always, we recognize that you have been much better to us than we deserve. We trust our lives to your sovereign control no matter what comes. You are God. Amen.”

Amen, Andy. I feel that way everytime my wife flies which is somewhere every other week or so. God indeed is the God of physics, and may he be praised with every landing he provides. Amen.

What a beautiful reminder of the gracious sovreignty of our merciful God.
