Cleveland Zoo

Today was a holiday, so Sharon’s parents joined us for a trip to the Cleveland Metropolitan Zoo. A kind passerby took this family picture near the elephant exhibit. That was a nice gesture (especially as she didn’t run away with the camera).

We journeyed through the entire complex but especially enjoyed the hands on bird exhibit in a section dedicated to Australian animals. It was there that the birds let us feed them, landed on Jefferson’s head, and nibbled the sun screen off my ear. We all enjoyed the giant Australian treehouse with a snake’s mouth slide and a motorized crocodile.

During the five hour visit, we saw elephants, lions, monkeys, flying foxes, tapirs, giraffes, ostriches, and a few other odd creatures. During family devotions tonight, we were reminded that all of these animals were created by our incredible Lord Jesus.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Colossians 1:16-17 NKJV

What an incredible thought to think that all of these creatures were created not only for our own enjoyment but also for his. “Thank you, Lord, for creating all of these creatures and for allowing us to see them today.”
